On the afternoon of Monday 20 January 2025, the Rector of the University of Pavol Jozef Šafárik in Košice prof. MUDr. Daniel Pella, PhD. and the Vice-Rector for International Relations Dr. h. c. prof. Mgr. Slávka Tomaščíková, PhD. received a delegation from the Embassy of the French Republic in Slovakia, headed by the Ambassador of France in Slovakia H.E. Nicolas Suran at the Rector’s Office of UPJŠ.
The meeting was attended by, in addition to the UPJŠ management, the Dean of the Faculty of Arts of UPJŠ, prof. Mgr. Renáta Panocová, PhD. and Mgr. Roman Gajdoš, representative of the French-Slovak University Institute at UPJŠ and lecturer at the Department of English and American Studies of the Faculty of Arts of UPJŠ. Ambassador H.E. Nicolas Suran was accompanied by Sébastien Girard, First Secretary, Thomas Perrin, Attaché for University and Scientific Cooperation and Bronislava Sinčáková from the Press Department of the French Embassy.


The subject of the meeting was the continued cooperation between Slovak and French universities, as well as support of the double master’s degree scheme with the University of Strasbourg and the work of the French language instructor at UPJŠ.
“We greatly appreciate that the Ambassador positively evaluates and supports our cooperation with French partners in expanding the teaching of the French language at our university and is willing to systematically assist in establishing new contacts and in the implementation of new activities together with the team at the Embassy of the French Republic in Slovakia,” said the Vice-Rector for International Relations, prof. Tomaščíková.
