On 14 November 2024, the management of the Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice received students who were awarded by Rector of UPJŠ, Prof. Daniel Pella, PhD., on the occasion of 17 November – the Day of Fight for Freedom and Democracy and the International Day of Students. Out of 28 awarded students, 23 students came in person to receive the award and were received by Vice-Rector for Academic Qualifications and Doctoral Studies, Prof. Monika Halánová, PhD., Vice-Rector for Undergraduate and Lifelong Learning, Dr. Ľudmila Elbert, PhD., Vice-Rector for Science, Research and Project Agenda, Prof. Renáta Oriňaková, DrSc., and Vice-Rector for International Relations, Prof. Slávka Tomaščíková, PhD.
Students were awarded for exceptional academic results, excellent results in the competition of student and scientific professional activities and other national or international competitions, active membership in the self-governing bodies of the University, student organizations and associations, boards of study programs, in the promotion of the University and its faculties through participation in representative and volunteer events, in solving projects, completing internships, and achieving excellent sports results. All activities have contributed to spreading the good name of the University and its components and thus contributed to the overall promotion of UPJŠ. The university management expressed words of praise and thanks for their active participation. The subject of informal discussion included the possibilities of improving the conditions of students in representing the University and in the implementation of various extracurricular activities.
