German Ambassador Barbara Wolf visited UPJŠ

The new Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Slovakia, Barbara Wolf, as part of a planned trip to Košice, visited the Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice on June 29, 2021. At one of the best Slovak research universities, her excellence was welcomed by the Rector of UPJŠ, prof. RNDr. Pavol Sovák, CSc., Together with the Vice-Rector for International Relations and Mobility, doc. Ing. Silvia Ručinská, PhD., And with the head of the Department of German Studies, Faculty of Arts, UPJŠ, doc. PaedDr. Ingrid Puchalovou, PhD. Barbara Wolf was also accompanied by prof. Dr. Juraj Banský, Honorary Consul of the Federal Republic of Germany in Košice.

Ambassador Wolf was interested in the conditions of study for international students studying at UPJŠ, the attitude of UPJŠ on the amendment of the Higher Education Act and the autonomy of Slovak universities. Topics of the meeting also included the teaching of the German language, experience with its teaching at the Department of German Studies, Faculty of Arts, UPJŠ, as well as other possibilities of academic cooperation with DAAD (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst – German Academic Exchange Service).
