Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice awarded a world-renowned professor of medicine the honorary degree of Doctor Honoris Causa

At its ceremonial meeting on Monday, 27 January 2020, the Scientific Board of Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice awarded the honorary degree of Doctor Honoris Causa to Professor Maciej Banach from the Medical University of Lodz, a renowned figure in the field of medicine. The ceremony took place in the Historic Aula of Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice and was attended by many distinguished guests.

Professor Maciej Banach has become the 42nd awardee of the honorary title of Dr. h. c. at Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice. Professor Banach was nominated for the honorary degree by the Faculty of Medicine, Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice, for his internationally recognised work and his collaboration with the university in the professional education of the university’s employees on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the Faculty of Medicine and 60th anniversary of the establishment of Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice.

“It is an immense honour for me to have been awarded the degree of Doctor Honoris Causa at your university today. It also means a great responsibility and obligation to work hard to promote science, especially in the fields I represent – preventive cardiology and lipidology – in Poland, Europe, especially its central and eastern parts, and the whole world,” said Dr. h. c. prof. MUDr. Maciej Banach, PhD.
