The popular Children’s University began on Monday, July 8, 2019 in the premises of the Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice. Unlike projects of a similar nature, the University Without Borders project was again conceptually focused on making the world of science and education accessible to the children from socially disadvantaged background in order to support the development of their talents, abilities and skills. The ninth year of the Children’s University was attended by 72 children, including 10 children from several Centers for Children and Families.
The university offered an interesting program for the 5th– and 6th-year pupils of elementary schools. During the five-day program the young enthusiasts learned about university life in the form of interactive lectures by university teachers from the five faculties of the university and from the University Library. The program was complemented by practical demonstrations and experiments adapted to the age and interests of children. The variety of sports and animation activities in the afternoon was ensured by the Institute of Physical Education and Sport. The ninth year of the University Without Borders project was officially concluded on Friday, July 12, 2019 with a graduation ceremony attended by the senior management of the university, where the children received their Diplomas.
