Tradition of June Fest at UPJŠ continues

2minút, 5sekúnd

The seventeenth edition of the UPJŠ June Fest took place on the grounds of the UPJŠ Botanical Garden on Friday, 14 June 2024. The UPJŠ Rector, professor Daniel Pella, PhD., addressed the employees at the beginning of the event.
A diverse programme awaited the employees this year as well. The UPJŠ Institute of Physical Education and Sports (UTVŠ) took care of physical activities in the form of pulling a drunken drowning man, la piñata, 36th Chamber of Shaolin, wringing laundry, dry octopus throw, Thor’s hammer, botanical duck hunt and choking chicken. Medals were awarded for the best sporting performances. Those who did not take the first three places in any of the above disciplines had a chance to win a raffle. The raffle was drawn a total of three times, in addition to UTVŠ, the General Health Insurance Company also prepared prizes for the UPJŠ employees and 20 prizes were donated to UPJŠ. For the more experienced and adventurous athletes, a WipeOut hurdle track was prepared.

The atmosphere was made more pleasant by the performance of members of the Chorus Universitatis Šafarikianae university choir under the direction of Mgr. Jana Havrilová, accompanied on the accordion by Rastislav Jasik, a student of the UPJŠ Faculty of Law .
At the beginning of the performance, the attendees were briefly addressed by the professional text and programme advisor of the choir, assoc. professor Marianna Sedláková. The spoken word and music programme was accompanied by Košice Student Radio (ŠtuRKo) throughout the event. The general overview and attention was tested by a fun quiz, which was attended by 6 volunteers. The events prepared by the UPJŠ Botanical Garden during the summer were announced by the Director of the UPJŠ Botanical Garden, professor Pavol Mártonfi, PhD.

The programme was complemented by the stand of the General Health Insurance Company offering counselling, cholesterol examination, detection of the muscle tissue mass, water and fat content in the body, spirometry and advice on quitting smoking. In addition, employees were provided with a cervical spine massage by UPJŠ Faculty of Medicine physiotherapy students, which was especially appreciated by those who work at the computer.
