Joy and smiles on the faces of about a hundred children were seen on Wednesday, 5 June 2024 at the event “Children’s Day at UPJŠ“. Employees with their children enjoyed a pleasant afternoon full of fun, games and competitions on the campus at Moyzesova 9. The variety of the programme was enjoyed by different age groups of children, from the youngest curious ones to school-age children. The performance by the Puppet Theatre in Košice was followed by a whirlwind of fun competitions and activities.
The children were treated to a varied programme, with which the UPJŠ students helped out and entertained the participants with their energy and sense of humour for four hours. In a playful way, they introduced the different faculties of the university and explained to them the different professions that the Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice offers its students. A great attraction were the live animals that the future natural scientists showed to the children. They could personally get acquainted with, for example, large millipedes, a wildebeest, a turtle, an agama and even a snake. The children could not keep their eyes off the interesting chemistry experiments that drew them into the world of science. The activity connected with the UPJŠ University Library aimed at finding the right book in a pile of books was also interesting for them, and the bouncy castle was a special delight. The university canteen took care of the sweet surprise with a sponsor package for each child and the programme was closed with a raffle with tempting prizes.
