The President of the Slovak Republic, Zuzana Čaputová, appointed 39 new university professors on Tuesday 26 March 2024. In her speech, she emphasised that the academic title of professor implies a commitment: ‘What should surely unite you all is the concern that a free and motivating atmosphere should prevail at our universities. That they produce professionally competent graduates ready to pursue their professions. That we, as a society, are better able to rise to the challenges and trials that lie ahead.”
The President also reminded the new professors that thanks to their education and experience they can continue to educate and raise our young university generation, which will take responsibility for the successful development of Slovakia. The President described critical thinking as a way of thinking and living that helps spread rationality and fact-based thinking in society. At the end of her address, she wished the appointed professors good health and strength for the years to come.

prof. MUDr. Marek Lacko, PhD.
