On Monday, February 26, 2024, the Vice-Rector for International Relations, Professor Slávka Tomaščíková, and the Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Professor Renáta Panocová, received a visit from the Embassy of the French Republic in Slovakia at the premises of the Rector’s Office of the University of Pavol Jozef Šafárik in Košice. Yan Pautrat, Attaché for Scientific and University Cooperation and Martina Saganová, responsible for university and scientific exchanges, visited our university in order to discuss the existing cooperation with universities in France, the French Institute in Slovakia, and the French Alliance, and also the development of this cooperation for the next period.
“Cooperation with French universities has a long tradition at the university level and within many departments of the faculties, both in the framework of teaching and student mobility, dual doctoral and master’s diplomas, as well as in scientific research activities and joint projects. Its high level and development are possible thanks to the continued support of the Embassy of the French Republic in Slovakia,” said Vice-Rector Tomaščíková.
“The number of joint events held, such as lectures and discussion forums, presentations of scholarship opportunities and the long-standing interest and support for the dual diploma programme at the master’s level in cooperation with the University of Strasbourg are examples of specific forms of cooperation with the Embassy of the French Republic and the Faculty of Arts,” evaluated Dean Panocová.
After the meeting, Mr. Pautrat and Mrs. Sagan went to the Platon building of the UPJŠ Faculty of Arts, where at 2 p.m. the presentation of the offer of scholarships of the French government for students, PhD students and teachers of the UPJŠ started. The programme included interesting information about study opportunities in France, scholarships provided by the French government, as well as opportunities to study in the English study programme. The event was held under the auspices of the French Institute in Slovakia and the UPJŠ Faculty of Arts in Košice.
